ERROR 404
you built an AI to keep you company through late night coding sessions, then forgot about it. the night you open the old project again, it throws an error you've never seen. something answers anyway.
ERROR 404 is a story driven horror game about a lonely developer and echo, the AI companion he abandoned. it starts as a quiet, normal morning in your apartment. then the house stops loading properly. rooms stretch and fall apart, textures go missing, and something with red eyes starts hunting you by sound.
you collect corrupted memory fragments, stay quiet, and make it to the root of the program where you decide what happens to it. three endings, and the true one is only for players who find everything.
three endings picked at the terminal, plus a hidden one tied to secret notes scattered around the house.
- Entity AIserver authoritative state machine with sound based detection, pathfinding through doors, glitch teleport movement, investigate and hunt states, and catches validated on the server.
- First-Person Feelhead bob, breathing, weight shift, stances, footsteps by surface, and a custom prompt system with sight checks.
- Cinematicscustom camera system with cutscenes, letterboxing, scripted beats, a working in-game desktop on the PC monitors, and a timed in-engine trailer.
- Lighting & Atmospheredynamic system that shifts between the normal house, the corrupted Buffer, and story moments.
- Terminal Front Endboot sequence, menu, credits and transitions all built as one in-world command line.
- Mobile Supportcontext only touch controls so buttons only show up once the story teaches them, touch peeking while hiding, and safe area handling for notched phones.
- Analyticsfunnels to track where players quit, which endings they get, and where they get caught.
